I explain how law actually works in Cambodia — and what small states like it teach us about power and law everywhere.

I'm a Phnom Penh–based legal researcher. I've worked on Cambodian private law, arbitration and regulatory affairs since 2011, as a Partner at Mekhala Radiant Communications and as Of Counsel (foreign consultant) at CSP & Associates. I read the country's legal and political interior in Khmer and render it in publishable English — the translation layer between a deliberately opaque system and the tribunals, investors, editors, chanceries and scholars who need to understand it.

The work runs in two directions. To the world, I explain Cambodia's legal interior: sober, sourced, and accurate. To Cambodia, I explain the world's legal machinery — sanctions, arbitration, trade law — as someone who trains its lawyers and works alongside its Bar. The second direction is not decoration. It is the reason a foreigner gets to stay, read, and write for the long run.
